Blackberry-Banana Smoothie

Blackberry-Banana Smoothie Recipe

Happy mama’s day! I wanted to sleep until noon, and that’s really easier said than done sometimes. I woke up very early, actually a few hours before sunrise and decided to ‘celebrate’ it by working, while my kids are still sound asleep.

I can’t really say “I am celebrating”, because we are parents for life, all day, every single day, 365 days a year no matter what, but it is what it is. Society says today is a Mother’s day, so we ought to celebrate it only one day a year.

So, with coffee right beside me, music in my ears, I am typing this and enjoying this peace that surrounds me. The best day of my life was when I became a mother, period!

Even with hardships, even with arguments, door slamming in front of your nose, “you hate me” teen remarks. I wouldn’t change it, because believe it or not there is a good side of being a mother, a side that melts you into a puddle of sweetly melted ice-cream;

When they give you a hug from out of the blue and whisper in your ear “you’re the best!”,

Tell you “I love you or you are so beautiful”, or simply ask you: “how was your day, today?”,

erhaps take their time and make a smoothie for your breakfast. Did I tell you, I have an amazing three individuals that are growing into beautiful and thoughtful adults?!

They simply make my day, every day!

Anyhow, let me show you how to make this nutritious and delicious Blackberry and Banana Smoothie?! I love getting more than we can eat bananas because I peel them, wrap them into the plastic wrap and they go right in the freezer.

You can do that with any fruit… It makes a thick mass of the smoothie when you use frozen fruit. If you add yogurt, it makes this amazing fro-yo that you can eat with a spoon.

I didn’t want to eat fro-yo, so I added water, or you can add milk for smoother texture. The other option is you can use any dairy or nondairy liquid, as well as ice-cubes along with frozen fruits.

It’s just fantastic and so refreshing in the summertime, not to mention healthy. You can make a smoothie really into powerhouse drink just by adding few add-ins.

Some of those are Flaxseeds, veggies like spinach or kale, perhaps protein powder, a blend of Chia seeds, hemp seeds, and buckwheat. You can add whatever you’d like, but it’s tasty, just the way it is.
