Lavender Honey Sweetener

Happy Friday everybody!!!! I love Fridays because it's weekend in front, because I can sleep longer, because I can have family day all day with my hubby and kids....
Last weekend we went on a hike twice, and I couldn't believe how much energy my kids have. It was approximately 6+ miles and my children were running most of the time. We had so much fun, but for us who are getting bit "older" (ahem!) it was hard to keep up or to get up in the morning if you know what I mean!?
It is really nice to experience all 4 season and enjoy fully in each of them.
So when we came home I made tea for my family and me to get that soothing sensation, bit of energy and relaxation from long hike. I am really thankful that all of my kids like tea, and we make different homemade teas all the time but this time it was with just bit more flavor.

Few days before the hike I made this floral sweetener with incredible aroma that gives pleasant taste to any tea. The funny thing was where I found the recipe...It was in "special advertising section" - Little booklet with few recipes that I kept for who knows how long and it just fell out of the book last week. When I started to turn page by page of that little  booklet and when I saw this sweetener I had to try making it as soon as possible.

As soon as it started to boil, my home smelled like honey and lavender, and it was such a calming aroma that was circling around. When it was done, I was eager to make myself some tea while kids were still in school. One more soothing aroma circled through my kitchen from organic dry Chamomile that was brewing in my pot. It was truly relaxing tea time on a rainy Autumn afternoon!

1 smaller Jar
Ingredients:
adapted from Home made simple
  • 1 1/2 Cups Pure Honey
  • 1/4 cup Dry Lavender flower
  • 2 Tbs. Water
Directions:
  1. Bring to boil, Water, Honey and dry Lavender flower.
  2. Stir and turn the heat on simmer (low heat)
  3. Stir frequently and simmer for 35 minutes.
  4. Take it off the stove and let it cool down completely.
  5. Gently reheat to pourable consistency and strain through the cheesecloth and into heatproof container or a jar. Keep it in the fridge or the coolest place in your kitchen.
  6. Use one teaspoonful with your favorite tea.

Enjoy!

Wishing you enjoyable weekend!

((hugs))

  12. This is sweeeeeeeet! I love the calming aroma of honey and lavender! They take me back to summers biking in Provence! I wouldn't hesitate slathering this on myself in the bath! Hahaha! This is truly perfect with pancakes, tea cakes, pancakes, ice cream, or just with hot water to make a soothing evening or morning honey water drink!
