Green Tea Frappuccino

Green Tea Frappuccino

I love Matcha, so this Green Tea Frappuccino is such a convenient and quick way for me to enjoy it without going to Starbucks. Plus, I honestly believe mine is better!

Last week we went to one of my favorite stores, International Market, where most products are imported from Asia. When I go there I don’t know where to turn.

It’s like being a kid in a candy store. I want to try and buy everything. I swear! For foodies with Asian culinary hankerings, it’s paradise.

I searched many, many times for green tea powder but never found it. I guess I was lucky that the store got it in stock. Sure, I could get it online, and take the easy way out… But… I didn’t! Sigh!

Green tea Frappuccino

I made cold iced tea and a latte, both of which were excellent. But I want a frappuccino. I’m dependent on it, and it’s my summertime beverage.

Consequently, I had to create it myself. I did not want water as the base or make it “just a smoothie.” Rich, cool, and thick was what I desired. I think I was successful in creating something that I genuinely enjoyed.

Recipe Notes:

  • Green tea from the bag/filter or dry green tea leaf will not work for this frappuccino
  • Green tea is bitter and also depends on what kind you buy. The best one is 100% natural.
  • I recommend getting Organic Japanese Matcha (抹茶/also known as matcha-fine powder, tea). It is more expensive, but by far better quality.
  • You can use almond milk or simular instead heavy whipped cream.

This is not STARBUCKS Frappuccino.

I never stated that this is a Starbucks recipe!
This is my recipe and the color is slightly different and a little lighter than the one that you get from Starbucks because of the ice cream, milk, and cream that is used in the recipe below the bottom one.
You can omit that and make your own version using only matcha, ice, cream, water, and melon syrup for flavoring.
