If you are having a get together to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, this dessert will satisfy those with a serious sweet tooth. Perfect for people of all ages, these cute cakes make a big impact without breaking the bank. Here is a step by step guide to creating fabulous Union Jack fondant fancies.
Before you begin, you will need to ensure that you have the correct bakeware to create fondant fancies that look and taste great. In order to bake your cakes to perfection, you will need a high quality cake tin. It is advisable to invest in silicone bakeware as they are made from non stick materials making it easy to remove them from the moulds without ruining the shape. You will also need a whisk and a range of cake decorating products including nozzles in an array of different sizes. Procook.co.uk stock a superb range of bakeware at great prices for those looking to find a bargain.
|I did not made this...trust me I wish I have the ability and talent to do it!!!!!:)|
Fondant Fancy Ingredients
For the Sponge:
- 175 Grams Caster Sugar
- 3 Eggs
- 175 Grams of Self Raising Flour
- 175 Grams of Unsalted butter
For the Filling:
- 3 Tablespoons of Strawberry Jam
- 75 Grams of Butter
- 150 Grams of Icing Sugar
For the Icing:
- Red, White and Blue Food Coloring
- Fondant Icing Sugar
Once you have all of the equipment and ingredients it is time to make a start. Combine the butter, sugar and flour and add in the eggs. Pour the mixture into the cake tin and put it in the oven for 55 to 60 minutes. Once the time is up, take out the cake tin and allow to cool. Cut into small squares and combine the food coloring and icing sugar to create the Union Jack icing. Use a piping bag with a fine nozzle to create the Union Jack design at speed.
Once your Union Jack fondant fancies have cooled and you have decorated them to perfection, it is time to turn your attention to the presentation. No fondant fancy is complete without a bun case and you can buy cases in all colours of the rainbow to complement your existing party décor. Alternatively, you can display them on a cake stand.
