One of my favorite food from the grill are these sausages, and since this old post from 2010 didn't have any pictures, I am trying to update and make it live again. Same recipe, but with the homemade pita bread you can find it HERE. I posted awhile ago and there is a bit of history about these sausages and where they are coming from.  
I hope you try them because they are truly very delicious!

Homemade Grilled Sausages-Ćevapi

Serves 4
  • 2 Lb Angus Ground Beef
  • 1 onion, shredded 
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
  • 1-2 Tbsp Oil + 1 Tbsp for later 
  1. Mix egg, baking soda and bread crumbs in the cup, let it sit for 10 min. 
  2. Meanwhile mince or shred onion; put the meat in a large bowl and begin to put everything together. 
  3. Mix it very well with your hands (you can use gloves) and put oil on top; cover with plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for few hours. 
  4. When you ready to put it on your grill take it out of the fridge, dip your fingers into the oil and start making small sausage rolls by taking small meatball and form it into the sausage; place it on the big tray and in the fridge again until ready for grilling; 
  5. Grill until there is no more bloody inside, so turning few times on a hot grill is necessary. 
  6. Serve it in the pita bread, with minced or sliced onions and anything that you would like to add inside(ajvar, lettuce, tomatoes, or perhaps bbq sauce est.)
